There is something genuinely impressive about an event at The Grove Rooftop. Located on level 32 of 480 Queen Street in Brisbane’s CBD, the venue blends a sleek glass interior, a retractable wall and an outdoor deck lined with fairy-light lit trees, with uninterrupted views over the Brisbane River, the city skyline and the Story Bridge. It is the kind of space that immediately resets guest expectations, whether you are hosting a wedding, an awards night, a Christmas party or a flagship birthday.

This post showcases some of the events we have helped bring to life at The Grove. Featuring recap videos, photos and client reviews, it gives you a feel for how we work alongside our clients at this venue, and how the right entertainment, lighting and AV plan can take a great space and turn it into an event you and your guests will remember for the right reasons.

Why We Love Working at The Grove Rooftop

The Grove is one of those venues that genuinely lifts the events we run there. The combination of a configurable indoor space, a retractable wall and an outdoor deck gives us a lot to work with creatively, and the in-house team handles the venue side smoothly behind the scenes. For our clients, that means more time to actually enjoy the night and less time worrying about how it all fits together.

It also helps that The Grove is set up to suit very different event styles. We have run intimate seated weddings, corporate awards nights, milestone birthdays and brand launches in this space, and the venue adapts well to each one. Capacity goes up to 300 guests cocktail-style, which gives us flexibility around layout, dance floor placement and how the room flows from arrival through to the final song.

Entertainment at The Grove Rooftop

A venue this distinctive sets a high bar for the rest of the event. Our job is to match the feel of the room, not compete with it, and that is the lens our DJs and MCs work through every time we are at The Grove.

Our Brisbane DJs are experienced at reading a room and pacing the night around it. At The Grove, that often means starting softly during arrival drinks on the deck, building gently through dinner inside, then lifting the energy when the dance floor opens. We bring our own professional DJ rig and music library, and we work cleanly with the venue’s in-house speaker system across both indoor and outdoor zones. The result for our clients is a night that flows naturally and a dance floor that fills properly and stays full.

Our MCs hold the run sheet so you don’t have to. From welcoming guests as they step out of the lift onto level 32, through to introductions, speeches, cake cut and first dance, we keep the night on time and feeling natural rather than scripted. For corporate events such as awards nights, conferences and product launches, our MCs can host the program more formally, manage stage transitions and work alongside your speakers and presenters so everything lands cleanly without awkward pauses or technical fumbles.

The point is that the entertainment plan is built around your event, your guests and the way you want the night to feel. We adjust around the brief, not the other way around.

Lighting and AV at The Grove Rooftop

Lighting is where our team can quietly transform the space. The Grove already has a strong visual base, with the glass interior, fairy-lit deck and city views doing a lot of the work, so the goal is to enhance the room rather than overpower it. We only recommend the options that genuinely suit the venue.

For weddings and milestone events, our most popular setup at The Grove is warm LED uplighting along the indoor walls, which softens the glass interior and gives the reception space a layered, evening feel as the sun drops. From there, we can add pin spotting on the cake or signing table and dance floor wash lighting to keep the space feeling intentional from dinner through to dancing. For first dances, Dancing on a Cloud creates a soft low-cloud effect that looks beautiful against the city backdrop and photographs incredibly well.

For corporate events, we work in your brand colours through our LED uplighting, and we can add stage wash for speakers, gobo projections of your logo or event name, and clean audio support for the program. The Grove already has a built-in projector, screen, lectern and microphone setup, so we work with the venue’s system and supplement where it makes sense, rather than duplicating equipment. That keeps things simple, cost-effective and aligned with what the venue already does well.

For events that want a real moment of impact, we also offer Sparkulars, which are cold-spark indoor effects suited to first dances, grand entrances or major reveals. They suit The Grove’s indoor space and create a powerful visual moment without smoke, heat or fall-out concerns.

Our Starlight Dance Floor is another option that works beautifully in this space, regardless of event type. It gives you a glowing, twinkling floor that pairs naturally with the city skyline view through The Grove’s glass interior, and it photographs and films incredibly well. We have used it for weddings, milestone birthdays, corporate gala dinners and end-of-year functions, and it consistently lifts the visual feel of the room without changing how the rest of the event runs.

Every lighting and AV setup we run at The Grove is tailored to the size of your event, the look you are going for and what the venue actually needs to look its best. We don’t add effects for the sake of it. If something is not the right fit for the space, we will tell you.

A Venue and Team That Work Well Together

The Grove is a versatile venue, and the events we have run there look very different from one another. Weddings make full use of the deck for outdoor ceremonies before transitioning indoors for the reception. Corporate clients use the venue for awards nights, product launches, conferences and end-of-year functions. Private events like 30ths, 40ths, 50ths and engagement parties take advantage of the rooftop setting to give guests something genuinely memorable.

Our role across all of these is the same. We sit alongside the venue’s in-house team and your other suppliers, plan the run sheet with you, and quietly handle the entertainment, sound and lighting on the night. You stay the focus of your own event. We just make sure the moments you have planned actually land the way you want them to.

The CBD location also makes everything easier on the day. The Grove sits in the heart of Queen Street, with public transport, hotels and parking all within walking distance, which matters for guests travelling in from across South East Queensland or interstate.

Client Reviews

“Booking G&M for our wedding at The Grove was one of the easiest decisions we made. From the first planning call through to the last song, the team just got it. Our MC kept everything moving without making the night feel rushed, and the DJ read the room perfectly — the dance floor was packed from the first track. The Dancing on a Cloud effect during our first dance with the Brisbane skyline behind us was unreal. Thank you for making the whole night feel effortless. We have already recommended you to two friends.”

“For my husband's 50th at The Grove, we wanted something that felt special without being over the top. The G&M team nailed it. The Starlight Dance Floor against the city view was genuinely jaw-dropping when guests walked in, and our DJ kept the energy spot on across a really mixed crowd, from family friends in their 70s through to our kids in their 20s. Everyone was dancing. Communication in the lead-up was clear and easy, and on the night they just quietly handled everything.”

“We hosted our event at The Grove and the G&M team made the whole day run beautifully. We wanted someone to make sure the audio and visual is working correctly and to make sure our presenters are microphoned correctly. They handled this perfectly and with confidence, working seamlessly with our presenters. We will absolutely be using them again next year.”
