Emily and Josh decided to celebrate their Noosa wedding at the trendy and modern Ricky’s River Bar & Restaurant. When I (DJ Ben Shipway) first spoke to Josh & Emily it didn’t take long before I realised this wasn’t going to be your typical, laid back Noosa wedding.
In our first planning meeting they made it abundantly clear that they wanted feet on that dance floor all night long. Our discussion spread to talking about the tastes of their friends and families and once we started talking music I knew that we were in for a good night.
Josh & Emily’s tastes in music differed but they were contrasting rather than conflicting. Emily’s taste for RnB and top 40 proved effective on the dance floor in the later hours of the night and Josh’s interest in singer songwriters in the Triple J vein was worked in to the dinner atmosphere as their guests drank and laughed together.
Their dance floor mix ended up rather eclectic.
Touching on some great oldies including “Stayin’ Alive” (Bee Gees), “Brown Eyed Girl” (Van Morrison) and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” (Whitney Houston) just to name a few. After some modern pop crowd pleasers including “Uptown Funk” (Bruno Mars) and ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling” (Justin Timberlake) the dance floor hit it’s stride with some RnB favourites including “Crazy In Love” (Beyonce) and “This Is How We Do It” (Montell Jordan).
Guests drank and partied well in to the night before the celebration ended at 11PM, signalled by a chorus of pumped up guests chanting “one more song” as they pleaded for the night not to come to an end.
The pictures captured by NAK Photography tell more of the story than I ever could. It is all about happiness and celebration among friends and family.
Thanks Emily & Josh for choosing me to create the soundtrack to start your married life.
