Chenae & Jaydn’s Rydges South Bank Wedding. Breathtaking Brisbane City Views.
Brisbane Wedding DJ, MC, Cloud and Lighting Hire | #GMDifference
I first met Chenae & Jaydn properly at the Rydges South Bank open day in 2018. They were booked in for their wedding on the rooftop level and they mentioned a few things that immediately caught my attention.
- The level 12 rooftop is my favourite reception spot for epic city views.
- They were having 110 guests (some of you will know that I love bigger crowds.)
- And their reception was going to be going until 2am!
Ok… in the end the timeline shifted back to a 1am finish but I was still keen to see just how long their family and friends would hit that dance floor.
Chenae & Jaydn initially booked in our Magnifique DJ package, which meant that they could select me (Ben) as their DJ and we locked in some face to face meetings to plan the music side of their event together.
Later, they decided to add in Glenn as their MC, to have the complete peace of mind that everything would flow smoothly and they could focus on enjoying their reception.
Talking about the music is my favourite part of the process. Finding their tastes, getting a vibe for their family and friends and bringing it all together in to one cohesive playlist with flow, excitement and most importantly; bringing everyone together for the best party they will ever host.
I have a few standout moments from the night (although it is hard to pick from so many).
Chenae & Jaydn’s grand entrance was… In a word… Epic. They used an instrumental section from Ennio Morricone’s “Ecstasy of Gold” (Movie buffs will know it from the soundtrack for “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”) to build suspense as they were being introduced before dropping in to “Alive” by Lil Jon as they entered the room. The energy was explosive, and I am all about that.
Another moment I remember stemmed from a passing comment in one of our meetings. Jaydn had similar tastes to me in Hip-hop and Grime, so I had a lot of fun chatting with him about that and exploring how it could be implemented tastefully. He made a passing comment that him and his friends were digging “Pure Water” by Migos. It wasn’t listed in any of their formal song lists but I made a note.
The opportunity arose when the dance floor was bumping to “Swalla” by Jason Derulo and Jaydn and his mates entered the dance floor. I could already see the mix in my head and it was a perfect opportunity to drop something especially for them. It took less than 2 seconds of the intro being played and the boys knew exactly what was coming. It was awesome sharing that moment with them, playing off each others energy.
