Zanny & James decided to have their wedding on a private property in a stunning marquee with a transparent ceiling, adorned with fairy lights. In my (DJ Ben Shipway) planning meetings they told me that they had family travelling from all over Australia, and they LOVE to dance, so the stage was set.
When we started to talk about music it quickly became obvious that the dance floor was going to play a big part in the vibe of their wedding reception. Their taste leaned towards the classics, Van Morrison vibes during dinner followed by tried and tested dance floor bangers from the 70s to the 90s including Earth, Wind & Fire, Aretha Franklin, ABBA & Marvin Gaye. They had guests ranging from 20s – 70s so we constructed a playlist that would bridge generations and bring everybody together for a memorable night on the dance floor.
A highlight of the night was Zanny & James’ first dance, which was a custom edit of “Things can only get better” by D:Ream, with a choreographed confetti cannon climax at the peak of the song that signalled the start of a dance floor that would rage on until the early hours of the morning.
My favourite song of the night was “Gimme Gimme Gimme – Sgt Slick’s Melbourne Recut”, which is a high energy remix of the classic ABBA track that tastefully modernises the track for a contemporary audience. The dance floor bounced between disco, funk & pub rock for a marathon 4 hour session while guests drank, laughed and danced the night away.

I just wanted to say the BIGGEST thank you for being the best DJ any wedding could have asked for!!! You definitely made the night by playing back to back bangers (I heard my Aunty going to leave the dance floor a few times and then turn around as another banger would come on ;p). You were so great to deal!
